What changed everything
It Wasn't Age. It Was Stillness.
She'd made her peace with it. That's the part she's not proud of. She'd decided this was just what her body was now.
Then she went to Charleston for eight days.
She walked more than she had in years, and braced for the price. She was sure she'd come home wrecked, proof her body couldn't do this anymore.
Instead, for the first time in longer than she wanted to admit, she felt lighter. Like the last few years hadn't happened.
Then she came home. Sat back down. Four days at her desk, and every bit of the heaviness came back.
And that's when it hit her: it was never her age doing this. It was the sitting. All those hours her body spent holding still and never getting to let go. She'd spent years blaming herself for something that was never her fault.
